The first Sofia Restaurant was opened in Camberwell in 1954.
Featuring a limited menu of pizza and pasta, the restaurant’s popularity grew until it took over the adjoining shop-fronts and expanded into the Camberwell institution it is today. Its menu grew along with the restaurant until it now boasts a large number of chicken, steak, pasta and seafood dishes as well as their famous over-sized desserts.

The decision was then made to franchise the core ideas behind the restaurant.
Several new Sofia Restaurants were built in various parts of Melbourne.
Today there are six restaurants in the Sofias chain.
Sofia, Wheelers Hill was established in 2001, maintaining the core values of generous servings, good service and low prices, all with an authentic Italian style.
